In the last five years parallel computing, parallelized algorithms, adaptive grids and inversion with anisotropy have be came available. Modern algorithms modify the the grid according conductivity contrast. A regular site spacing in the field is not needed anymore.
However: the data acquisition does not reflect these circumstances. For massive data production recording schemes as well as times series data processing have to be automatized – e.g. using joblists and pre-configured processings as batch jobs. Multiple results will be stored in SQL databases and can be accessed simultaneously by many users in order to make the final selection for the inversion.
